Volunteers help plan and lead the event, which is an overnight camp-out for kids and their Fathers at Oak Meadow Park in Bridgeland. Before the event, volunteers are needed to help organize camping packets, distribute them to the campers, and organize the event. At the event, volunteers will assist with check-in, dinner, entertainment, high school volunteers, safety, and cleanup.

The Yearbook Committee creates the Pope student yearbook every year. The committee needs photographers (you MUST have a physical camera) to take pictures at school events. Help is also needed with Picture Day, collecting photos from the community, designing layouts, proofing the yearbook, and distributing yearbooks at the end of the year.

PRIDE Store volunteers help with managing inventory, working PRIDE Store shifts, and distributing orders. PRIDE Store is once a month during students' lunches (Grades 1st-5th). Volunteers will also help fulfill and delivery to orders to the Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms.

The Veterans Day committee volunteers help coordinate with the Pope Admin team to plan a Veterans Day celebration where our Pope Panthers host our veterans for a small recognition.
Multicultural Day

Volunteers help plan and present a school day event that celebrates the diversity of our student body through informational presentations, crafts, food, music, cultural dress, dance, and literature. This is an all day event that requires lots of volunteers in each grade level.
100th Day of Kindergarten
100th Day of Kindergarten

Volunteers help plan and run the 100th Day of Kindergarten activities with the Kindergarten teachers. This is an all-day event where the students rotate through each Kindergarten classroom, and each classroom is set up with a different theme and activity. Volunteers will also help organize and cut materials needed before the event. Only volunteers who are working this event are allowed to attend the 100th Day festivities.
Sweetheart Dance

Volunteers plan and lead the Sweetheart Dance, a night of dancing and fun for the young ladies of Pope Elementary and their fathers/father figures. Volunteers will help run the different stations during the dance.

Volunteers assist Coach Schlosser with Field Day, a grade level event during school where students show their P.R.I.D.E. while participating in team building races and physical activity. Volunteers are needed to set up for the event and races, judge, and clean up.

Volunteers assist with the Muffins with Mom event, including setup, decorating, distributing food/helping with the traffic flow, and cleaning up.
Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week

Volunteers plan and lead daily activities and gifts that our students can do/provide our Pope teachers and staff during Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week in May. Volunteers also assist with decorating, collecting donations, setting up/serving breakfasts and/or lunches, and cleaning up.

Science Resource Center (SRC) Demonstrations
Science Resource Center (SRC) Demonstrations

Our Science Resource Center demos are a parent-led lesson presented by trained volunteers to our science classes. We present lessons to all grades Pre-K through 5th grade. Trainings are offered by the SRC Staff to teach parents the lesson they will be presenting and to go over the proper handling techniques and care for the animals.

The Hospitality Committee works to show appreciation for our Pope teachers and staff from our community. There are multiple celebrations all year long. Volunteers organize sign-ups/drop-offs for items, collect donations, work the teacher luncheons, and help keep up the necessities for staff and custodians.

Library volunteers work shifts helping out our librarian Mrs. Crites to shelf books, check books in and out, and assist with other library tasks as needed. Library volunteers will need to attend training before volunteering (training date TBD).
MakerSpace
MakerSpace

The MakerSpace program is a place where young people have an opportunity to explore their own interests, learn to use tools and materials, both physical and virtual, and develop creative projects. Volunteers will set up the MakerSpace area (in the Kiva next to the library), assist students with the projects, and help clean up. MakerSpace volunteering happens during the school day during recess.

Lost & Found volunteers help reunite lost items with their owners. They are also responsible for organizing and maintaining a neat appearance of the Lost & Found area regularly. Once a semester, volunteers will clean out the Lost & Found and donate the items.

The Decorating Crew will be responsible for setting up and taking down decorations for different themed days throughout the year (50th Day of School, Balloons over Broadway, Character Parade, etc.).
Paws the Mascot

Volunteers dress up in the Paws mascot costume for different school functions throughout the year. A handler will always be with Paws to assist. The kids LOVE it when Paws shows up!
5th Grade - 2024 Committee

The 5th Grade Committee helps fundraise and plan for the 5th grade end of the year party. This committee works year round to: design/distribute the 5th grade shirt, help with Paw painting, take pictures of 5th grade events, and plan and create the 5th grade memory book. This committee's work culminates in the end of the year party for the 5th graders.

These volunteers help with the winter holiday events planned at the school in December. This includes: decorating the school, organizing craft boxes for grade level parties, volunteering at school events, and tear down after the holiday parties.
